Thursday > Thursday Lauds
1 God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to
shine upon us; Selah.
2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all
nations.
3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise
thee.
4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge
the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise
thee.
6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own
God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my
transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before
me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy
sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be
clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother
conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the
hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall
be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast
broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit
within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit
from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy
free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be
converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my
salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy
praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou
delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a
contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of
Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,
with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer
bullocks upon thine altar.
1 O lord God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before
thee:
2 Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;
3 For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto
the grave.
4 I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man
that hath no strength:
5 Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom
thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.
6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.
7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all
thy waves. Selah.
8 Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made
me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
9 Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called
daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.
10 Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and
praise thee? Selah.
11 Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy
faithfulness in destruction?
12 Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in
the land of forgetfulness?
13 But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my
prayer prevent thee.
14 LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face
from me?
15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer
thy terrors I am distracted.
16 Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.
17 They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me
about together.
18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine
acquaintance into darkness.
1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst
formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting,
thou art God.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children
of men.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is
past, and as a watch in the night.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in
the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it
is cut down, and withereth.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we
troubled.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the
light of thy countenance.
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years
as a tale that is told.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by
reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength
labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy
fear, so is thy wrath.
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts
unto wisdom.
13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy
servants.
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be
glad all our days.
15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted
us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their
children.
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish
thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands
establish thou it.
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise
him in the heights.
2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.
3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.
4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above
the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they
were created.
6 He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a
decree which shall not pass.
7 Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:
8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his
word:
9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:
10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:
11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of
the earth:
12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is
excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his
saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise
ye the LORD.
1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his
praise in the congregation of saints.
2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of
Zion be joyful in their King.
3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises
unto him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the
meek with salvation.
5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon
their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged
sword in their hand;
7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the
people;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters
of iron;
9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all
his saints. Praise ye the LORD.
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in
the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his
excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the
psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed
instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high
sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
